Choose the guide that matches what you want to do. The Quick Start and manuals follow the current SPITFIRE NG source tree. The downloadable 0.1.0 Development Preview is older and does not include every feature described in the current-source documentation.

Run a board Sysop Reference Manual Install, configure, customize, operate, secure, back up, recover, and troubleshoot SPITFIRE NG. Call a board Caller Guide Connect, log in, navigate, use messages and files, transfer files, and log off cleanly. Go deeper Technical Reference Architecture, persistence, transports, protocols, storage, security, compatibility, and testing.

What works today

D1–D3 are complete, accepted and published: update/backup/runtime rollback, caller login/new users/sessions, and menus/conferences/messages. Real Apple Silicon Telnet acceptance exists; Intel macOS compilation passes. Full Files caller UX, Doors, installers, classic migration and broad platform acceptance are not complete.

One source, several useful forms

The reviewed Markdown in the public SPITFIRE NG repository is the editorial source for the Sysop Manual, Quick Start, Caller Guide, and Technical Reference. This site adds navigation and presentation; it does not define a separate version of the product documentation.

The Original SPITFIRE Archive is a separate historical collection. Its preserved manuals describe original DOS-era SPITFIRE and should not be mistaken for current SPITFIRE NG instructions.
